Australian and NZ List of Vessels Lost, Missing or Taken from Active Service 1874-1949

Author(s): Taylor, Peter

NZ Non-fiction

The register gave details of vessels registered at these ports, a brief description of a vessel, such as when she was built, length, alterations, the owners, etc, much the same information as the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping contained. The register was first produced in 1874 and last published in 1949. Recorded in the register were details of vessels lost; missing; hulked or taken from active service, this included scuttlings. The details of approximately 5700 vessels covering a period of 75 years have been consolidated into this publication for the maritime historian, wreck researcher or history buff to use. The register does not list those vessels that were too small or not registered. Some of the places that vessels were recorded as having been wrecked do not always tally with where they were actually wrecked.
