NZ Art

Looking for inspiration for a tile project? Laying tiles on a floor space or a wall doesn't have to be boring. With a little forethought and very little extra effort, a tiled surface can become a work of art. Intricate effects and complex mosaic-style designs can be created using off-the-shelf tiles and tile colours, combined with the mathematical magic of tessellation. This book provides inspiration and ideas for all your tiling projects - large or small - and includes over 100 ready-to use tiling patterns. Use the drawings as plans for your next DIY project, or give them to a tile-laying professional to reproduce. Alternatively, make up your own original patterns by building on the ideas presented in this book.

More About The Product

Leila Adam is a mathematician who became obsessed with drawing tessellating tile patterns after being asked to design a tiled floor for her local mosque. There were no books or infomation on designs using standard floor tiles and so she decided to create designs herself. She soon realised that Islamic art was a rich source of ideas and then began to see possibilities for dramatic repeating tile designs everywhere. Using her mathematical skills, she created the designs in this book.
